I'm assuming in this non-existent ninja RPG, there's a feat called "Take the Hit" or something that lets you save a fellow party member from an attack.

Well, I'm sure no one else will use it.

Wait, a feat!?

I thought it would be a flaw because a lot of characters seems to use it. Sasuke, Hinata, Haku and Neji is just a few of them.

Maybe it is simply a skill or alternate rules? As a reminder, I don't know D&D (any edition) particularly well, having barely played third percent.

I have played GURPS, and there are rules that allow you to use one of your Active Defenses to help someone else. Unfortunately I don't think I have them handy. ;) As GURPS has you roll against your Dodge score to Dodge, Parry to Parry, and Block to Block, it would make sense as something you could do by default at a penalty. Extrapolating, it would then make sense for the penalty to be lower if you allow yourself to also take the hit, or just have the same penalty to try but if you don't make the roll by at least X, you take the hit instead of getting both of you out of the way.

Settings based on manga or animé should probably carry an extra penalty because seriously, how rarely does someone throw themselves in the way to save someone, instead of tackling them out of the way, or instead of that person remembering to DODGE.
