At what point is keeping the plan secret no longer smart, and instead just annoying?

I do wonder how many people at the table believed me when I said I had a plan back when we were fighting Duke Harris. (There's a throwback. Pages 64-72 if you don't recall.)

Mal's going for the "play chicken with the GM to see if he's going to really fail all of the PCs" route.

It is a bold strategy, but one I have seen plenty of times. Word of warning, make sure you know your GM very well before you do this. Every party that has played chicken with me has been TPK'd. Just because I want you win, doesn't mean I'll let it happen.

I'm guessing it's a lot simpler then that. If you go back and read how the rules were stated. They a start with ten points, and lose them by ether getting caught cheating, or by getting questions wrong... Don't do anything at all, and you'd end up keeping all ten points.

Assuming a blank answer doesn't count as a wrong answer is kind of a bold stance to take

Maybe if the test was actually about their answers, but what is being tested is their ability to gather information in the field. Answering nothing simply amounts to acknowledging that your teammates would be better at the job, and trusting them to pull it off.
