I kinda skipped the bulk of this little escapade. But, then again, I don't think a long series of skill checks is the reason any of us are really here.

Would seem odd... Like someone said a few pages ago, realistically the judges are catching pretty much all of their attempts at creating(I mean, Gaara's is a freaking floating eyeball...), and simply judging them by the likelihood of such a tactic working to gather information in the field.

Which... Is a bar his should more then meet.

I was wondering about that. The rules strictly were that if they cheated, and they WOULD catch them cheating, that they lose 2 points. I didn't quite understand Cathy's math of 18 when I read it and considered commenting but wasn't sure if his 'stealth' roll mitigated it or not.

The penalty for getting caught cheating was, according to the original 'rules' page that 'each member of your team loses 2 points'. Which means their totals should be 6+8+(X-2) x being Mal's score. Unless the 2 is only accountable to their TOTAL score rather than each individual score.

But if it is 'each' then their total isn't 18 as Cathy suggested, but 14. So Mal needs 6+ to succeed.

That only applies if Jarrod only got caught once.

What you are missing though is that Mal got a 10 out of 10. After all, the GM said they only dock points for cheating and wrong answers. Really, his strategy of don't touch your dice was the best method.
