Now this is where the GM starts laughing maniacally. Still, prepare for some conflict in the party. Now THIS will be really fun!

Obviously, they're both fake. What sort of Ninja cares about this thing you call 'Honor' they both swearing to uphold. The only reason Ninja know about honor is so they can all the more revel in their dishonor!

Hey, Lawful Good does not mean Lawful Nice.

...That was a really bad reference to the situation, but I swear it makes sense! Ninja weren't dishonorable, they were guerilla fighters. They had their own code of conduct to uphold after the rebels evolved into a new culture of warrior. It's just nothing officially recognized as "fair play" on a battlefield. I hear it referenced frequently as "High War" what we refer to as a fair fight and "Low War" which is what espionage types like Ninjas and Spies follow. High War is pretty much as much a politics game as it is a fight. The stakes are usually about violent disputes more than anything. Low War is no holds barred, you win or you die survival battle. Ninja are less "dishonorable" and more "nuts to your concept of honor, we have our own."

Which Naruto himself honestly embodies with his speeches about Ninja Way throughout the series. He even grasps and encourages other people to find their own "honor" and follow that rather than force his idea of morality on everyone else. Just also would prefer it if you didn't murder people to get your point across.

This got really wordy. Sorry.

Play "Legend of the Five Rings, 4th Edition" sometime; they have an excellent system for their players to work with. It also explains the nature and depths of honor, which should be seen as way more complicated than a simple 'code'. In L5R, a ninja in theory could have decent or high honor, but you clearly weren't playing a ninja right. They're very DUTIFUL, but they rarely care about the niceties of honor. Duty is a part of honor, but many people put it well above all other parts of it; for ninja, it a necessity.
Case-in-point: in the Naruto Manga, by L5R standards, Naruto would have a very high Honor, while Sasuke, though dutiful to his family's honor, would have a low to middle ranking one most of the time. Sasuke's dutiful, but Naruto also remembers Compassion, Courage, Honesty (he really doesn't like lies), Sincerity (he never goes back on his word), Courtesy (he treats no one as beneath him), Duty (true duty to his ideals, not just to a name), and Honor (he's the final judge of himself, not his rank or title). Ironically, Naruto makes for a poor Ninja*, but a great Samurai in L5R.
*the Ninja of Naruto Manga really are more like mercenary wizards than classical ninja; I remember the creator originally planned on them being called Wizards, but his editor suggested Ninja would sell better.

Saying it again. Sasuke is the fake.

My bet is Sakura is the fake! Mainly as Naruto was already replaced once which would just be picking on him!
