Escort missions suck. It doesn't matter the context.

I'm liking this so far.
Please try to pace yourself - too fast and you'll burn out, too slow and you'll lose interest, and all that - since so many of these 'campaign comics' fail, and yours looks interesting enough to be worth reading.
Heck, I'd read it even if it was an original story (something that might not be as much true of, say, DM of The Rings, which would just be awkward and whiny without the story to parody)
Though, of course, if it was an original story you wouldn't have the pre-made art, I just mean the story so far seems good.

One way to make escort missions good is to not always make them insufferable pricks. I'm not sure if that would make it more fun, I haven't used escort missions with my gaming group yet.

Another is to just straight out make the 'escortee' competent enough that keeping them alive isn't an issue (assuming you use 'standard' tactics)
In those cases, the point of the escort mission is turned on its head: Rather than making normal fights harder by giving you a handicap, they let you handle tougher fights for more epic moments. As a bonus, you get the chance to nudge the players towards roleplaying by giving them an important NPC they can't stop following - and even if the PCs intend to do a mute 'hack-and-slash' run the NPC might still try to talk to them.

To be fair, I think there are exceptions. I seem to recall Final Fantasy VI (called III for the SNES release, at least in the U.S.) there was a character (Banon?) that was just that but he had a nice healing ability which was good because it was one of those "stuck away from healing locations" escort missions.

Also... all caught up. Congratulations (or should I say condolences) that I'm here and seem to be hooked. ;)

It may be difficult, but if there's any way you can make the Sakura character better, that'd be great. Maybe make her the De-facto leader where she comes up with the battle plans even if she doesn't fight much?

Hmm.

I think I can do it now. My usual analysis of the GM style for this campaign comic compared with the other big ones.

...I'll hold off until it gets to Haku, unless the comment section or the author specifically request it.

Wait... usual analysis? I'm kinda curious now. May I ask where I can find your previous ones?

...crap, I never did actually put them in a comment did I? Better fix that...anyway! No point waiting.

The GM here is new at the job, operating very cooperatively with his players, and is super into worldbuilding. This fits Naruto so well, the same way the GM of GL3.5 fits One Peice; Naruto was always a stumbling story in a fancinating world, with characters that changed it frequently. Really, I think they're doing it on purpose now; Darths and Droids had an experienced, flexible GM that adjusted his plans on the fly to compensate for wild cards but always kept a note of EVERTHING...just like Palpatine; DM of the Rings had an entitled railroader who couldn't handle the good guys not doing what he thought they'd do...like Sauron.

...I'll do one for GL3.5 back at that site.
