APRIL FOOLS! Hope you all enjoyed yesterday's look into an alternate universe. Pretty surprised no one's done a campaign comic for the Fate Series, though...

NOW Jarrod’s being a jerk. I think we need some backstory.

Jarrod don't seem like the forgiving type.

Im not sure what to think of this.

Arent they both about making good characters? I don't understand what they
are arguing about. Jarrod is about making complex build while Mal go with muchkin-fun build.

I think Mal is jealous of how a newbie can make more deep and well thought character then he does. And don't like a newbie to criticize his own build or characters. He is misguided by pride... I think. And maybe envy.

I wish I would have some backstory here :(

It looks like Jarrod might also be unhappy with the way that Mal characterized Hinata.

Declaring "I'm a better player than you" is a really bold and hurtful statement, since being a RPG'r has many diverse facets. You might as well say "I'm a better human being than you". Jarrod is, unsurprisingly, pissed.

Jarrod's suffering from bad tabletop dynamics early on.

Maybe, as you said, Mal's got some envy. It'd certainly be in line with Naruto and Sasuke's dynamic early on in the story. It's bad for the table here though.

Jarrod developed the sharingan to be a custom thing, only for Wallace to pick it up as a gimmick and overshadow him. Wallace then built Rock Lee to basically be Sasuke's antithesis, by having no jutsu to copy. I'm not surprised if he's feeling maligned while playing this game.

I also think part of it was Jarod going all I'm better than you first, sure he was doing it in character, but Mal seems the type to have a hard time keeping in and out of character separate, so when Jarod had Neji go on his spiel about being better than Hinata, well Mal probably took that as an attack on himself as well, and then Mal overreacted back in his anger.

I don't think Mal should have apologized.
