It amuses me that this amazingly powerful attack's closest equivalent in DnD 5e proper (Shocking Grasp) is just a cantrip. Unless anyone can think of something closer.

Also, Elemental Affinity deep cut. Way back to Page 27.

Huh, they weakened shocking grasp in 5e. Interesting. Still only a level 1 spell earlier, but it did a lot more damage. There's not a ton of any spells of any specific element, and most electrical spells are ranged, so yeah, that's probably the closest. There's one that adds an elemental buff to weapons that's 3rd level (in 3.5 at least) which could be it I suppose, especially when he starts using it with a sword. But really, him having the duskblade style ability to channel magic through a weapon is probably a more reasonable explanation for that. Pretty sure a bunch of ninjas channel chakra through weapons in the show, so there's probably a class feature for that lol.

Or Shocking Grasp in a spell-storing weapon. Adding 5d6 (or 10d6, with Intensified metamagic) to a sword would be pretty good.

In Pathfinder, at least, you can make Shocking Grasp rather impressive, start stacking metamagic and add it to an unarmed strike rather than a single attack on its own... There's a reason it was the go-to spell for the Magus class in Pathfinder 1e
