I ran a few questions by the DM before I tried anything. I confirmed that if I shouted, Duke Harris would hear me. I blew the Signal Whistle my character had (wish I'd used that back in the statue room, but I'm an idiot, so I didn't) to get his attention. I was directly on the opposite side of the room from the rest of the fight, and I declared,

"Duke Harris, I destroyed the weeping statue!"

I knew that either he'd be incredibly grateful, or incredibly mad. He was, of course, the latter. In my original plan, I was going to throw the Barbarian under the bus, but it didn't seem worth it. The Duke immediately dropped what he was doing (literally, he was tearing the Monk to shreds) and came after me. Pip died and became a vampire, but the half of the party that was still alive escaped, and the campaign ended there. The DM later congratulated me, saying it was a good plan, even if it wasn't one I was going to survive. So that's the story of Pip, the greatest Rock Gnome who ever lived.

Captain Nightsilver would be proud.

Loved that story there, but a quick question: Was the way you posted it simply because of its length (reasonable) or was it also a clever reference to Masashi Kishimoto's (the author of the Naruto manga for those who don't know) stories which were presented in a similar manner in the manga volumes between chapters?

The length. I wish I was that clever...

Coinciding the end of that story with Kakashi telling them to leave him to die was excellent planning. Nicely done!

I concur.... Still, after watching the show and reading the manga, there is no reason Kakashi shouldn't have at least 2 ways out of this trap... Even without using his Raikiri.

I imagine the water prison would restrict the use of chakra, otherwise it would be a pretty crappy jutsu.

Not even that, Zabuza has to keep his hand and some of his arm in the ball... and I'm pretty sure Kakashi has at least one more kunai...

Kakashi could slit Zabuza's wrist, stab him in the hand, cut off a couple of the guy's fingers... something that would make him regret having to keep his hand there.

I had assumed the prison was a full ball of water. If Kakashi used his Raikiri he'd electrocute himself.

Holy crap! Raxon, how long have you been here?

Ever since I learned about this comic from Grand Line 3.5. RandomRex6 made a guest comic there. Did you read my story on the previous page? It's one of those stories.

That last sentence alone is more than enough to go back a page :)

It is very interesting to hear about a game I ran from the other side (Also, what are the odds a comic I read was written by someone from a Convention game).

I've been greatly enjoying the comic and I'm glad that you enjoyed the DnD game. Quick note for those curious: I'd never had the chance to use Vampires or Flaming Skulls before, but I figured a group of Lv 10 adventurers could handle them. Did not account for The Skulls having enough Fireballs to destroy a small city in an enclosed space. Or the Warlock (played by a much younger player) abandoning the game as soon as the Final Fight started.

If interested, this post from my blog has the backstories of the characters, including Pip Scraps
